More than 319 km of roads are to be designed

The preliminary value of the projects for the next programming period for EU funds operational programmes is EUR 1.3bn according to Roads Infrastructure. Among them are five projects for which in the beginning of 2010 are to start design tenders, of total lenght of 319.2 km.
The sooner will be launched the tender for lot 3 Blagoevgrad - Sandanski of Struma highway of 61 km, it has three main lots:
- Blagoevgrad - Krupnik - design schedule 2010 - 2011
- Krupnik - Kresna - 4 km of viaducts and 16 km of tunnels
- Kresna - Sandanski - design schedule 2010 - 2011
Design should be prepared for Trakia highway lot 6 Burgas - Varna along EU transport corridor 8 linking the two biggest Bulgarian Black Sea ports in Varna and Burgas, of 100 km estimated length.
The third project to be designed is Sofia - Kalotina highway, of 70 km length. It is a part of Sofia - Nis route which is already under construction on the Serbian territory.
Sofia - Gyueshevo highway is 85 km long along the corridors ІV and VІІІ, it will be developed along with Sofia - Pernik - Radomir railway line (which is currently under preparation by ISPA programme).
Shipka tunnel is 3.2 km long, three options are planned in case of interest from concession holders, informed from the Roads Infrastructure agency.
