The roads with the biggest potential for public-private partnerships in Bulgaria

The main sectors with potential for public-private partnerships in Bulgaria are the road infrastructure, waste management, public health, education, information technologies, renewable energy.

Currently there is no market for public-private projects in this country nor large-scale national projects but municipal projects on a local level.

There are no initiatives securing public financing but despite that Bulgaria registeres a significant legislative and institutional progress. The government makes efforts to secure private finding to complete Hemus, Black Sea and Rila highways without specific legislation, say experts.

The European market is not in crisis, even the opposite - the public interest to the public-private partnerships as means of financing grew all over Europe, say the experts in the analysis.

Two weeks ago the projects by the PPP model were backed by the European Commission as a part of the European Economic Plan for Recovery.

The report analyses the current market of public-private projects in over 20 countries in Europe.
